Earthship Florida

Florida Earthship Plans

An earthship is a house completely build from recycled materials and 100% off grid. What this means is that the home generates its own electricity, processes its sewage and waste without being hooked up to municipal sewer lines and even grows its own food.

Project 3.0 partner Bryan Roberts with Eco-Tech Construction is the general contractor on Florida’s first earthship project. Bryan successfully amended the Florida state building code in order to obtain construction permits; basically allowing alternative – yet proven – engineering to adopted into the building code.

The construction site serves as a mini campus teaching workshops in sustainable living practices. College credit is available.

The first earthship in Florida construction progress as of 21 December 2009.

This 3,400 sq.ft completely off grid home is being build by general contractor Bryan Roberts with Eco-Tech Construction. Each of the 4 corners of the home will feature a dome, 2 of which have their framework completed. The centrally constructed wetlands will feature a 16 X 38 foot greenhouse glass atrium on top of the beams framing its perimeter. This area will function as a greywater recycling system that will double as an interior garden growing fruits & vegatables for the occupants.

Upon drying in the structure the Campus TV will host a major educational entertainment event on the premises.
